What if I’ve registered for a class but can no longer attend?
We deeply value each of our students and appreciate your support as a small business. To maintain a smooth and fulfilling experience for everyone, we kindly ask that you note we are unable to offer refunds, class switches, or credits on any class seat purchases.
Of course, you are welcome to send someone else in your place if you cannot come. Thank you for your understanding! If you have any questions or concerns you can email us at classes@gygi.com or give us a call at 801-268-3316.
Is there a waiting list for classes that are sold out?
Yes, we have a waiting list form! Just fill out all the details (with the specific class date) and we will get back with you if any spots become available. You can view our class schedule here.
Does everyone get a chance to cook?
Yes, absolutely! We believe in offering a true hands-on experience to everyone who attends our classes. We make sure each class is small enough for our instructors to offer individualized attention and give everyone a chance to help create the menu of the night.
From time-to-time we do offer demonstration class however, those are clearly noted that they are a demonstration class, not a hands-on class.
What should I wear to a cooking class?
We suggest wearing closed toed shoes and clothes that aren’t too baggy. Everyone who attends a hands-on class will receive a Gygi apron to keep at the end of the night.
What happens if your class is cancelled?
Unfortunately, we sometimes have to cancel classes due to a low number of attendees or a rare and unforeseen event, such as, horrible weather or power outages.
If we have to cancel your class we will offer a refund or credit to attend the class when it is rescheduled. We always try to reschedule the class within a week or two of the original date.
Can I just show up to a class or do I have to register in advance?
Because of the planning that is necessary to keep our classes organized and efficient, we require advanced registration to all of our classes.
How do I use a gift card to register for a class?
If you would like to use a gift card to register for classes you can either email the class name, your contact details, and the gift card number to classes@gygi.com or call (801) 268-3316.
Are there age limits to attend a cooking class?
All students who register for our cooking classes must be 16 years or older. However, because we want everyone to have fun in the kitchen we do sometimes offer a Teens In The Kitchen class that allows anyone ages 11-15 to attend and Kids In The Kitchen that allows anyone from 7-11 years of age to attend.
Do you offer charitable donations?
Yes. Orson Gygi is very happy to be an active and supportive member of our local community. We encourage you to reach out to us for donation requests by sending an email to: classes@gygi.com. Please include a cover letter, your contact information, the amount requested, and specific information regarding who the donation is for.
We would love to be able to accept all donation requests that come our way, however, because we do have a limited budget, we ask for your understanding and patience. Thank you for being an involved member of the Utah community.
